RON HAYES
In 1993 Ron and Dot Hayes world came tumbling down when their 19 year old son Pat was killed on the job. Because of a lack of information and respect for their son, Ron set out on a quest to find out why workplace safety was so lacking in his son's company. To his surprise he found the problem was bigger than anyone realized. Ron was determined to help with workplace safety issues. He studied the problem, and in honor of Pat, he and Dot started the FIGHT project (Families in Grief Hold Together), a non - profit group to help families of workplace fatalities and injuries and to help businesses needing safety advice or help.
FIGHT takes no money for its work and operates on donations, grants and their own money. In the past 14 years FIGHT has helped 756 families and workers. Ron has worked with and helped many government agencies and businesses like, Dumont, Ford Motor, Ely Lilly, Heinz, Leggett & Platt, to name a few. Ron gives speeches all over the country for free on a proactive safety approach and has spoken to thousands of workers.
