WHY APPLY?
Benchmark: The process of applying requires your organization to
benchmark where you have been, where you are, and where you are headed.
It can be used as an opportunity to evaluate your current situation,
your prospects, and progress.
Prestige: Award winners have used the Corporate Safety Award to promote their organization and products in their internal communication, marketing material, web site, sales presentations and publicity.
Morale Booster: Many winners of these awards cite their workers as deserving the majority of the credit for the award. Many winning organizations use the award as an opportunity to show appreciation to their associates for a job well done.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be located in the Safety Council of the Ozarks service
area. If you are uncertain whether or not your company is located within
the required area, please contact Debora Biggs at

Awards are open to all conference attendees. Awards are first judged based upon the organization’s incidence rates for the complete calendar years: 2005, 2006 and 2007, as compared to the BLS rates for each of the three years for their NAICS. The Les Reynold’s 1 Million Work Hours without a lost time injury award will be based on information provided in the Awards Application, and subsequent recordkeeping data as requested.
1) Les Reynolds 1 Million Work Hours Without a Lost Time Injury Award: There is no time limit for accumulating the 1 MM work hours (small businesses may accumulate 1 MM hours over several years); however, the 1 MM hours worked without a lost time injury MUST have been achieved by July 6 of the current conference year. This award is given to all who achieve it. There are no runners' up for this award.
2) Best of the Best Award: Based on TCIIR and DACR rates. The awards committee will average the most recent three calendar years and compare the average rate to the industry average. The company with the largest % difference between their industry average and their internal record (for both TCIIR and DACR) will win the Best of the Best Award.

To be eligible, a company must show continuous improvement year-over-year in their TCIIR rate (e.g., a company’s TCIIR must decrease each sequential year). The most recent three years will be used for determining continuous improvement. Runners’ up will be ranked in order of improvement as well.

The most recent three years will be used for determining continuous improvement. Runners’ up will be ranked in order of improvement as well.
5) Safety and Health Excellence Award: Companies with all three years below their industry average (for both TCIIR and DACR). Awards will be presented to the top 5 companies achieving this award.
6) Safety Team Excellence: Do you have a Safety Team that is doing an outstanding job? The judges will review all the entries and select the team(s) to be recognized during the annual awards luncheon.
