Safety Management Assessments

Our experienced safety professionals provide a neutral, third party assessment of the current safety management system providing a benchmark while identifying and prioritizing areas for improvements. The assessment includes reviews of existing programs and documentation, field observations, hazard surveys and interviews to determine the compliance level and extent of program implementation. The standard for comparison will be Federal law, standard industry practice, and current safety philosophy and practice as indicated in the Councils nine elements of an effective safety management system National Safety Council consultants are industry professionals with extensive safety management expertise. Their assessment findings lead your organization to effective improvements. Our Safety Management Assessment will:

  • Provide an objective overview of the effectiveness of your current safety management system.
  • Benchmark current performance while identifying and prioritizing areas for improvement.

Regulatory Compliance Audits
Obtain an objective examination of your compliance programs to identify potential problem areas --- before OSHA does. Our safety professionals, with an average of more than 15 years of compliance expertise, assess your current level of compliance and provide a detailed action plan to meet OSHA requirements.

OSHA Voluntary Protect Program Assessment
Our experienced safety professionals can assess your current safety program against the criteria for the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program. A detailed summary report will outline specific conclusions and prioritize recommendations to meet the criteria.

Safety Management Leadership Training

Safety Management Leadership provides a practical long-range approach to the safety management process. This one-day program helps management understand their role in leading the implementation of a safety management system that delivers a high level of performance.

Participants will:

  • Recognize the four essential characteristics of safety excellence.
  • Use proactive, activity-based tools to involve employees in recognizing and identifying hazards.
  • Use measurement tools and develop measurement systems that effectively track the implementation of your safety management system.
  • Get your leadership plan in place; take an additional half-day of facilitation to complete a gap analysis and outline your action plan.

Safety Metrics Training

This one-day program presents a comprehensive management approach that integrates safety performance measures with a safety management system. The goal is to help you recognize the effectiveness of your safety efforts through measurement systems that track implementation.

Participants will:

  • Assess current safety measures used within your organization.
  • Identify key safety measurement criteria.
  • Recognize both proactive and consequence-based safety measures.
  • Apply safety management concepts to a case study.

Safety Program Effectiveness Evaluation Training

This one-day program shows you how to conduct systematic, rigorous evaluations of safety programs and interventions. It introduces scientific concepts and tools that assess the impact of injury prevention initiatives. We emphasize the application of evaluation techniques at the planning, implementation, and outcome stages of a safety intervention program that addresses interaction among managers, employees, job elements, and organizational factors.

Participants will:

  • Identify key components of a systematic evaluation process and their methodologies.
  • Recognize important factors related to the development of safety initiatives and program evaluation capacity at work.

Strategic Planning Consultation

Build on the National Safety Council’s experience and expertise by involving our consultants in your strategic planning process. We’ll provide advice and guidance as you develop your plans to ensure key initiatives are addressed. Our consultants will help you:

  • Define your vision and support implementation of a safety management system.
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities.
  • Establish a safety performance measurement system.
